Frequently Asked Questions
Placing Your Order
Question:
Answer:
How do I place a custom (shoe) order?

You will fill out an in-person or online form depending on if you order at an event or via one of my various social media accounts.
Question:
Answer:
Can I place an order without a form?

The information on the forms will have to be collected regardless, but you can also reach out to @courtlikestodraw on Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, and Etsy or email courtlikestodraw@gmail.com to begin the process. It will, however, take more time to start your order if you choose one of these alternative options.
Question:
Answer:
Do you have other accounts?

No, across all major platforms I am @courtlikestodraw. I don’t have a twitter or snapchat.
Question:
Answer:
Will I get confirmation that you’ve received my order?

When I receive your request you will get an email then. I will also send you one with an invoice for what you owe, when I start, for a draft and / or modifications (if applicable), and when the order is complete.
Question:
Answer:
Can I make changes to my order after it’s been placed?

If you opt to add on the bonus draft option, you can make changes until you approve of the final layout. If you opt out of the bonus draft option, you can no longer be guaranteed that I will be able to make modifications past the first sketch you receive. You are still free to reach out with a request, and if I am able to accommodate I will.
Question:
Answer:
How do drafts work?

When I begin working on your shoe (drafts do not apply to canvas paintings) you will receive a sketch of what I intend to create. The piece will be incredibly simplified but will give the gist of what will be done, and the first one I send you will serve as your complimentary draft.
Question:
Answer:
Can I have additional drafts?

Yes, the flat rate for additional drafts is $10. I will do up to 3 additional drafts before refusing the project (this is because I feel as though you may find a better fit elsewhere and have no intention of having you waste your time or money). When you get additional drafts, you will have the option to request changes after each one and I will try my best to incorporate them on the most recent version.
Question:
Answer:
Am I able to send references?

Yes, as an alternate or in addition to a draft, references are welcome.
Question:
Answer:
Are there any requirements to place an order other than filling out a form?

Yes, a deposit is required after receiving the "you've been accepted" email. It is half the total cost and is nonrefundable. It will be shown on your invoice in an itemized layout.
Question:
Answer:
Is a payment made at the same time that the form is submitted?

No, when the form is submitted, no payment is required. It is after I accept the commission request that you are required to make a payment. That either will be half the total price of your shoe, or the entirety of the amount you will owe.
Question:
Answer:
Are shoes the only thing you paint?

No, I can paint other clothing items (jean material) and canvas as well.
Shoe Specifications
Question:
Answer:
What size shoes are available?

The options are endless. Whatever size the store can sell, I can paint.
Question:
Answer:
Do you paint kids shoes?

Yes, I paint shoes for all ages. Kids shoes ranging from infant to youth size 4 are priced less than adult shoes. Canvas is $65 and leather is $95.
Question:
Answer:
Can I provide my own shoes?

If you are able to agree on a “local” meeting point, meaning within a 15 mile radius of me, I will accept shoes in person and paint on them. They must be new or gently worn to be accepted, as I won’t paint on battered or damaged bases.
Question:
Answer:
What types of shoes do you paint?

Primarily, I paint on No Boundaries, Vans, and Nikes. Other brands can be discussed.
Question:
Answer:
What if I provide my own shoes, what material can they be made of (i.e. plastic, rubber, canvas, leather, etc)?

I only paint on canvas or leather-based surfaces. For the easiest paint application and for the shoes themselves to last the longest, those are my only bases. Pleather and patent leather are not accepted as leather alternatives.
Question:
Answer:
What color shoes do you paint on?

If I provide the shoes, I tend to paint on black or white bases. I can paint on other colors as well, but that will have to be requested specifically if you’re not providing
them yourself.
Question:
Answer:
Do you do anything to protect the shoe?

Yes, for leather shoes I prime them, and for both leather and canvas I use a sealant to help protect from grime and water damage. That being said, it's still in your best interest to be diligent in storing and wearing the shoes in clean environments, as they aren't invincible.
Question:
Answer:
Do you do any add-ons aside from paint?

Yes, I offer other minor customizations such as 3D elements (like chains or rhinestones), additional drafts, or specialized packaging options.
Pricing and Policies
Question:
Answer:
How much do the shoes cost?

The price of the shoes vary on many factors based on what you fill out in your form. You essentially will pay for the price of the shoes if you don't provide your own, additional drafts if you opt for them, the price of materials and labor, as well as any add-ons. The totals of these can look different for everyone. See the price guide* below.

You will be notified on the changes and checkpoints pertaining to the timeline as much as possible.
